The Marxes had three shows on Broadway -- I'll Say She Is , which opened at the Casino on May 19, 1924, The Cocoanuts , which opened at the Lyric Theatre on December 8, 1925, and Animal Crackers , which had its Broadway debut on October 23, 1928 at the 44th Street Theatre. Of these three, only the latter two ever made it to film, under the same titles, and were released in 1929 and 1930, respectively, by Paramount. (The brothers were performing Animal Crackers on stage in the evening while filming The Cocoanuts in Queens during the day.) The links in the paragraph above point to pages at this site which go into a little more detail about each show and include reviews and scans of pages from the programs. Regarding the availability of scripts, I know they're out there because I know several people who have copies (though I don't myself). As a matter of fact, several versions of each probably exist. I can't say where you might find a copy, but prowling around at eBay wouldn't hurt. Below are a couple of pages from the program from "I'll Say She Is." Note the brothers were still going by their birth names, except Harpo who had changed his from "Adolf" to "Arthur" earlier in their career. Frank
