Dear All,

This is an old battle for you all I'm sure, but I have been intrigued lately with the ongoing argument which exists between Stooge fans and Marx fans (or at least among ones that I know).

Many Stooge fans that I have met contend that the Marxes are too "intellectual", "complicated", and other such adjectives.

Marx fans I know think the Stooges are too dumb, etc.

But, this seems to me to be an ongoing battle of viewpoints in modern comedy. It's rare that I meet someone who likes both Adam Sandler and Woody Allen.

Isn't life more full of laughs, though, when one embraces both the so-called high and low comedies. (Also, simple observation will reveal that these classifications are ridiculous, especially that of the Marxes being too cerebral--since they did every type of comedy.)

Well, I wonder what you all think?

I think the Adam Sandler / Woody Allen analogy is an excellent summation of the difference. Personally I think the Stooges are very funny, I just happen to prefer the Marxes. ( But I also Love the Cubs, but will watch and root for the White Sox as well-those in the Chicago area will understand)
Hail Freedonia!
