Let me tell you other marxists what my favorite Groucho line is, it's in Duck Soup when he's trapped in the building calling for help.

"Request help, 3 men and 1 woman trapped in building, if help is unavailable send 2 more women, 3 more women."

I'm curious to know some of your favorites, please respond

I'll tell you one for now, but I've got lots. My very favorite Groucho line is one that isn't repeated often. It's Groucho as Rufus T. Firefly in Duck Soup:

"Why, my ancestors would rise from their graves, and I'd only have to bury them again."

Night at the Opera, "How can you sleep with such big buttons on your pajamas?" (or something to that effect).

Favorite true-life quote, "Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read."

I know this has been asked on one of the mailing lists, but where and when did Groucho say or write the "Outside of a dog..." line? I 've heard it ascribed to him many times, but I have never been able to find the original source. thanks.

The most delicious thing that Groucho EVER said was to the lady contestant on "You Bet Your Life" who admitted that she had something like 14 children; her excuse was, "Well, I love my husband." To which Groucho replied, "Well, I love a good cigar, too, but I take it out of my mouth once in a while!"...HILARIOUS!

One of my favourites is to Margaret Dumont
"I can see you now, bent over the stove ...
only I can't see the stove"
I alos like his comment to Bob Dwan, producer of "You bet your life" "I have nothingbut confidence in you, and very little of that"
There are lots of Groucho quotes on the Marx in Print website also.
