Does anyone know what Groucho's "Mr.Hammer" character's first name was in "The Cocoanuts"? It's been kinda bugging me 'cause all their subsequent films had GREAT names for Groucho, starting with Capt.Jeffrey T. Spaulding and continuing through to Dr.Hugo Z. Hackenbush, but "Mr.Hammer" just sticks out like a sore thumb. The only way I can make it work for a character as Groucho is if his first name was "Armand"(get it? "Mr.Armand Hammer"? Say it fast and get a prize!), but I could be wrong(I could be Italian for all I know, my mother never did get back to me on that). While I'm off the subject, is "Chicolini" the only decent name Chico ever held(I know he's held a few decent dames, but that's neither hide nor hair...)? Nothing else even comes close to being iconic the way his brothers' were. Look at Harpo(that's a cue for a Gookie if I ever heard one), he got himself a good portion of the name game, with "Pinky", "Rusty" and "Punchy" being my favourites. Of course, Zeppo, being Zeppo, got stuck with Horatio W. Jamison and Bob Roland as his monickers(I don't blame him for leaving show business). Well...Lord, I was born a ramblin' man, and I seem to have done that here, so if you have something interesting to add, feel free, otherwise don't blame me for sittin' on the dock of the bay. Rain, Sleet and Hail Freedonia(it's that time of year again)! |

I can't really answer your question but merely wish to point out that in "Monkey Business" not one of them has a name. I'm not so sure about this name business. They don't really affect me one way or another. A Wagstaff by any other name would still smell as sweet. |
