Boy, the traffic's really slowed down around here, hasn't it? That's a shame, 'cause I don't know many people personally who share my affinity for the Marx Bros. Anyways, here are some interesting things I've noticed about the Marxes. and/or their movies: -In "Duck Soup", it's not Groucho's fault for being awakened by the Freedonian national anthem at his inauguration; the song clearly states "he'll make his appearance when the clock on the wall strikes ten", but if you listen to the clock's chimes, it's only six! And in the A.M. no less! What are these people doing singing the national anthem at the top of their lungs at six in the morning? The very idea! -Does anyone else think the Harpo scene from "Animal Crackers" where the lady tries to get him to tell her who he loves is one of THE MOST heartbreaking scenes of all time? I mean, here's this woman, softly prying a shy little boy(he's only five fingers old, remember) into revealing who his love is, then laughing right in his face when he finally reveals who it is; and her jeering face is the last thing he sees before her accomplice jumps him from behind with the knockout gas! I really feel for Harpo every time I watch it; thankfully he breaks the mood by jumping up and playfully chasing a pretty blonde off the screen, otherwise I'd be left with an even dimmer light in which to view humanity(although most people do look better with the lights turned low). |

Hey! I've just come back to the site after an extended absence (due to lack of traffic) and wanted to respond to a kindred spirit. I agree that the Forum is stalling, but am happy there are still some willing to breathe new life into it once in a while. I, too have a love for all things Marx (bros.). I plan on re-screening all my Brothers videos to help me through these precariously peculiar times. |
