The inaugaration scene of Groucho is pretty much the same in
the finished film. However, Zeppo's song is different:
His Excellency is due, to take his station, Beginning his new
adminstration, He'll make his appearance when, The clock on the wall
strikes ten.
The information that Groucho
played an ammunition salesman is lost in the film but was still evident
in a similiar exchange of dialogue in the (second) draft of "Cracked
Ice" (as presented in Simon Louvish' book "Monkey Business"):
Trentino: My dear Mrs Teasdale, this, uh, Mr Firestone...I
understand he is merely an ammunition salesman.
Mrs Teasdale: What of it? Poland had a Prime Minister who was
a piano player!
