Brasselle, Keefe: The Cannibals
(Category: Books in which the Marx Brothers appear as characters)
"Groucho and his wife Eden are in the book, as 'Mr. Ad-Lib' and his wife 'Eve', but they appear only over two or three pages of one chapter, and that in a memory-flashback while the narrator is talking with someone else. The plot of the novel has to do with the attempts of nightclub entertainer 'Joey Bertell' to become a TV producer, and most of the characters are based on CBS-TV executives of the time. For what it's worth, the narrator also describes characters based upon Jack Benny and director Howard Hawks as being variously 'washed up' and 'no talent'." (John Henley)
